I am doing MSY-MEM-DTW-SEA-DTW-MEM-MSy run on Sept 10 and 12. Not the best cpm but it takes less than 24 hours. $199 for 6072 EQMS or 1.46 cpm. It is my qualiying flight for FFF.I did run into Sisterhood of the travelling pants entirely too much!!! ....
On my MR flight JFK-LAX, the FA says: "Our movie will be 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants...(pause)...whatever that is."On my MR flight JFK-LAX, the FA says: "Our movie will be 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants...(pause)...whatever that is."
Its a movie that United show throw off the plane... and frankly if anyone can watch more than 5 minutes of it - they can keep it.Summary of Trip:
Start 8:23am Sept 10 - End 9:45am Sept 11th
Route: BWI-DEN-OAK-LAX-RNO-LAX-SFO-PHL-BWI (All UA except PHL-BWI US) @ $240.
I followed Goalie's advice and echecked in for the outbound on Friday. Unfortunately I barely got to the airport in time so I wasn't able to check in for the return out there. Anyway .. UAL's ontime efforts might still be paying off coz each flight left on time. I had E+ seats for all the sectors (except the Skywest OAK-LAX-RNO-LAX & PHL-BWIpieces which were a CRJ) so the longer flights were really comfortable. I also used 500miles to upgrade BWI-DEN-OAK and LAX-SFO (hoping to hang out with the celebs - which didn't happen) which were all approved.
All but 1 of my flights had less than 1 hour stops and in most cases I actually had time to hang around before hopping on again.
As far as the check in for the return goes .. I really didn't bother until I got to LAX. I went over the one counter and the rep said that I had to be in RNO to check in. I tried to explain that I didn't (ex. what about online, etc) but he seemed more than a little clueless (ineffective employee screening process). Anyway I just walked over the next gate and talked to the lady there who did it without a problem (but with wide eyes at the roundabout travel). Eventually she smiled - I think she realised it was a MR - and handed me the boarding passes.
Overall rating of the Trip .. A+ ^
So today:
7500 miles done (plus 25% Prem). Now I'm going to wait for them to post. I also signed up for the double EQM promo (even though I wasn't targeted - I know people have mixed feelings on this) so I've got my fingers crossed. It'll be nice to hit 2P this year.Flying back from Vegas on 9/11. Since it's a Sunday, I would expect there to be plenty of itins involving travel on that day.Returning MRS-CDG-EWR on 9/11. I guess we are not supersticious, and thankful to our armed forces in harm's way. As a former firefighter, I certainly do not want anything bad to happen (at least not to USA and allies), but if there is a glitch somewhere, I'd hate to get stuck in Europe for another week :D !!!! If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Stop and smell the roses (or citrus) along the way.I've got ORD-IAH-RNO... out on Sept. 11, back Sept. 13. It was $110 all in.DCA-MKE-MEM-LAS-DTW-DCA on the 10th and 11th. Total time away from home including the metro to and from the airport 24 hours.
Only the return flights will be on the 11th.,
Also will be by FFF qualifying flight.

You think Hurricane Katrina may impact these plans?...starting with a redeye SFO-DFW. Last time I did a 9/11 run, AA's schedules ended up such a mess with thunderstorms at DFW that I ended up doing a "redeye" DFW-RDU (arriving after 2 AM) to catch the first Eagle flight RDU-DCA and make a meeting in DC the next day. Figured it would be better to get started earlier this year. :)I am doing MSY-MEM-DTW-SEA-DTW-MEM-MSy run on Sept 10 and 12. I've got SFO-JFK-IAD-MSO-LAX-SFO continuous (redeye on the 10th from SFO) with a 4 hour layover in IAD where I figure I can regroup in the rcc. This will put me close to premier exec and should go over before the end of the year. I could have done SFO-JFK-IAD-MSO-FLL-LAX-LAS-SFO (accoriding to ITA) but that would've taken a little more time than I could afford!Just got back from a MR. My MHT-CVG was over by 12 on DL - so they sent me on a shuttle to BOS to get back to DCA & gave me 200.00 & a transporation voucher for DCA-IAD to pick up my truck. MHT was kind of a madhouse for ATL due to late (i.e. 2+ hours late) aircraft arriving. BOS was ridiculous too - apparently, today was the last day of runway closures - sat on a RJ for 1:20 before taking off...ridiculous...at least I'm up 200 bucks on a 45.00 ticket!I'm taking a trip that spans September 8 to September 11
09-08-05: MKE-ORD-HNL
09-08-05: HNL-DFW (Arrive 9-9)
09-09-05: DFW-MIA
09-10-05: MIA-DFW-HNL
09-10-05: HNL-ORD (Arrive 9-11)
09-11-05: ORD-MKE
This trip puts me 252 Points over the 100K Point mark on AA and EXP Status.
It's a YUP fare to boot. You think Hurricane Katrina may impact these plans?
It most certainly will. It has already played heavoc with my mileage run that was to begin on Sept 2. I strated it on Aug 31 instead.I am doing a super-ultra high run: GDL-MEX On Aerocaribe, all 250+- miles. Can't wait :pOriginally planned
Sept. 8 SFO-SAN
Sept. 11, SAN-SFO
Originally planned for stay on my own expense after a meeting on Sept. 9.
However, I found the hotel rate in SAN is being jacked up due to the Cal State Bar/CJA/AOC meeting. So I nest a MR to IAD.
Sept. 9 SAN-IAD (red eye)
Sept. 11 IAD-DEN-SAN
UA 1k lite: 18K EQM YTD. Those trips should requalify me for 2P.PHL-FLL, out 9/9, back 9/11/ Not a MR, but flying that day!PDX-ORD-BUF
BUF-ORD-PDX
$138 fare found here on FT. ^Sept 10th: LAX-CLE-EWR-ORD
Sept 11th: ORD-EWR-IAH-LAX
6,785 MILES
US$200.90Yes, just did MSP-ORD-DTW-SEA-OGG-KOA-SEA-MSP-ORD-MSP, returned on the 8:50 out of KOA on the 10th. I wanted to route via DTW on the return but it was gone by the time I jumped on the fare. (I got the ORD-KOA fare and the double EQM promotion.) :D
I HAD to stay at least overnight on the Big Island, one of my favorite places. The only hitch during the run was an FA that recognized me coming back on the final ORD-MSP leg on the 11th. The GA and FA personally confirmed my itin. I assured them it was just a cheap way to get away for a couple of days.I'm doing a birthday that day! :D
My grandmother too! 80th b-day, at that! :)
No MRs, but I will be in the air, as will most of my family, flying back from my wedding :DI am planning a trip on September 11th PFN-LGA (preferably Delta). It looks like the lowest fare is a simple ATL and CVG double connection. I have all day to get there. What a waste. :(I'm doing the next best thing - taking VJ's mileage run seminar.4 weekend mileage runs back-to-back to take advantage of a promotion expiring at the end of September. On 9/11 I will be running to SEA.
PS. Oddly, the flight loads are running somewhat high from IAH-SEA for Sat 9/10... maybe I smell a bump :DI'm doing a birthday that day! :DAm flying UA DEN-IAH-ORD-IAD-BOS on 9/10, and BOS-IAD-ORD-CID-DEN on 9/11.After reading a trip report about a 9/11 run last year I decided that I too wanted to always fly on 9/11 as a symbol. I will do DEN-MSP-BOS-DTW-IAD-DTW-DEN on NW. I wanted to go to BOS and IAD because that's where two of planes took off. Although I am flying on NW I plan on giving a note to UA and AA workers in the hopes that the note will be put in their "break room" for all the workers to see; it will just say thank you and keep up they great work they do for us. I will also give the FAs and pilots on each of my flights either chocolate or a gift card somewhere.I'm doing JFK-LAX-SMF on sept 10th and returning on the 12th. I live in NYC and the significance of that time of year doesn't escape me.Just finished a SFO-JFK (ps)-IAD-MCO-LAX-SFO mileage run. Bulkhead seats the entire way on full flights. Decent mileage at a good price although I did run into Sisterhood of the travelling pants entirely too much!!! I also confused the heck out of the agent who checked me in as she tried to piece together why I had no layover of more than 2 hours anywhere....Doing OAK-LAX-JFK-LAX-OAK on the evening of 9/10 - morning of 9/11. See you on the plane! I'll be the guy in the polo shirt reading a book and listening to Ch 9.I've got a IAD-CVG-ATL-MHT-CVG-IAD Run out on Sep 9, back on Sep 11.I'm in .. doing a UA run.
BWI-DEN-OAK-LAX-RNO-LAX-SFO-PHL (overnight)-BWI starting on the 10th at 8:20am and ending on the 11th at 10:30 or so.
Any thoughts on echeckin for the routing, since my stop at Reno is only 30 mins (5:20pm - 5:50pm). Missing the flight is not a problem as it probably the same metal - Just checking in might be. :DI got a SIN-BKK run on that day and the significance hadn't escaped me.As with my previous three 9/11 runs, I plan on giving out Godiva Chocolates (the 4-piece box) and a short note of appreciation to all FAs and flight crew members working the flights that I'm taking
What a great idea! ^but then that isn't really a mileage run is it? Forgive me if I am more than a little excited! We are flying biz class on SAS to get there burning most of our UAL points. Again forgive me my folly....and back to the serious MRs.not a true run as i'm doing sfo-bos 9/10 (red-eye) and bos-den-sfo on 9/11 at 5pm ($254 all in). i was looking for a good run to fly on 9/11 but in a left handed sort of way, i have to be in boston for my grandmother's unveiling on the morning of the 11th so it works out all the way 'round.looks like we're doing iah-ord-phl out on sept 10 and the reverse on 9/11 ^On 9/10, I fly ALB-ATL-MIA-ATL-ALB on DL.
-A.not true MR but I'll be in the air
9/11 RDU-EWR
9/12 EWR-IAH-OAKSept. 10: CMH-ATL-CVG-LAX-
Sept. 11: ATL-CVG-CMHI'm making a segment run out of a mini-vacation:
CHA-CLT-GSO-DCA-GSO-CLT-CHA
Out on the 9th, back on the 11th.
Not going to DC for anything 9/11 related - Braves vs. Nats on 9/10!
p.s. Anyone know a decent source for cheap Nats tickets? :-DMy wife and I were ticketed SAN-PIT-ART-PIT-SAN on 9/10-11.
We took a bump on 9/10 PIT-SAN and dropped the ART segments. This was on $1.86+ mistake fares, so still a respectable CPM, $30.10 total for 4286 EQM, plus elite bonus.
We got $200 each in US TCs, plus a room at the PIT Airport Wyndham and a total of $30 in food vouchers for giving up the 1000 miles for PIT-ART-PIT.This year will be my 4th consecutive 9/11 run. I have to be in NYC for a conference beginning on 12-Sep and instead of flying CLE-NYC direct I will fly:
CLE-MDW-CLE-EWR
As with my previous three 9/11 runs, I plan on giving out Godiva Chocolates (the 4-piece box) and a short note of appreciation to all FAs and flight crew members working the flights that I'm taking (record was 27 boxes in 2002 when I had 4 mainline segments on 9/11).
In contrast to previous years, my flights look fairly full.
Hopefully, it's because people are no longer afriad to fly on the worst date in the history of commercial aviation.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
