Movies play 'choppy' with FAN controll enabled.

January 7th, 2009
  • Hi there. Using rev12881 of XBMC and running 720p.
DivX files (severals tested) play quite "choppy" if the System FAN controll is activated (% part, not temp driven). If I disable the FAN controll, the motions in the film are fluent. There are also some fallbacks (skips some frames back in some occations) in the movie if fan controll is enabled.

  • Hi there.
I rolled back to march 2008 version of XBMC but the motions were also choppy and not fluent as they should bee.

I tested settings/Video/Player/Frame convert (PAL to NTSC) and something did happen: I'm driving 720p (NTSC mode) so this settings did help a bit.

still the motions-flow could be smoother still. CPU is only at 30%.
    :)

  • Hi there.
    Using 2008-06-16_rev13573.

There are still some odd motion-choppy behavior with the system, vast motions in movies are not played fluently, they tend to "jump" a bit. When the scene changes sometimes some frames from past scene are "flashed" during the scene-change. Movies are played either from ISO9660: or SMB:

CPU is about 30% and all FAN controlls are off. Driving 720p mode.
    Will debug log help?

    :)
